Biology : 

Body moder ately compr essed and r elativelythick. Snout moderately stout and pointed. Mouthoblique, between terminal and subterminal. Tip of mouthcleft on the level of lower margin of pupil. The junctionof lower jaw and quadrate, on about a vertical throughmiddle of the eye. Ventral keel between pelvics and analfin variably scaled, most along 1/3 of its length. Unbranchedpectoral fin ray strongly lined with melanophores.Orbit diameter larger than snout length andsmaller than interorbital width. Pelvic axillary scales extendover proximal bases of anal fin, forming a sheath.Lower body profile more convex than upper profile.Anal fin origin slightly behind a vertical from the posteriorend of dorsal fin base. Pigmentation above and belowlateral line pores obscured on caudal peduncle. Anevident dark stripe between hypaxial and epaxial muscles.Gill rakers short. Peritoneum silvery with dark pigmentations.Inhabits upper riches of rivers, in clear, welloxygenated,low in pollutions waters below 20°C, with astony bed and almost neutral pH and bushy shore. Maximumage 3 years and total length 90 mm. Maturity at 1-2years. Spawning in spring, on sand or gravel, in fastflowingwaters. Food include aquatic insect larvae

Distribution 

Endemic to Tigr is basin (Saimar eh River) in Iran.
