Biology : 

Dar k olive br own and heavily speckled.Flank below the lateral line, belly and lower head silvery.Front of the lower jaw dark. Iris silvery on lowerhalf and dark above. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins faintlypigmented grey. Pectoral and pelvic fins light yellow.Mouth oblique, terminal and relatively small. Pelvic axillaryprocess present. A fleshy keel in front of anal equalinglength of 6 scales. Gill rakers fine and short. Peritoneumbrown. Male specimens with small scattered tubercleson side of head and rays of fins. Inhabits middlereaches of freshwater rivers with gravel bottoms andbushy margins. Maximum total length 103 mm. Spawningin mid spring to mid summer. Absolute fecundityabout 2000 light yellowish eggs of up to 1.1 mm in diameter.Food include insects, crustaceans, worms andfilamentous algae.

Distribution 

Tigr is basin (Gamasiab and Doab r ivers).
