Biology : 

Back dar k br own or br ownish to olive orblue-grey. Flanks silvery with some yellowish tinges.Belly white to yellowish. Peritoneum black. Males developbreeding tubercles around the snout and posteriorlyon the lateral line. Mouth horseshoe like. Last unbrancheddorsal spine strong with 2/3 of its length serrated.Maximum age 10 years, total length 60 cm andweight 2.340 kg. Sexual maturity at 2-3 years. Males matureat 18 cm and females at 20 cm. Maximal growth inJuly and August. Lake dwelling fish aggregate and swimup streams, fattening and ripening at the spawning site.The females excavate a shallow nest in which to depositadhesive eggs. After spawning, the adults return downstreamto the stream mouth and lake. Spawning in May-July. Sex ratio 1male:1.5females. Absolute fecundity upto 72,600 eggs with a diameters of up to 2.2 mm. Eggspoisonous. Food include plants, insects, diatoms and filamentousalgae.

Distribution 

Tigr is (J ar r ahi, Kar un and Kar kheh rivers), Isfahan, Kavir (Jajarm and Kal Shur rivers), Fars, Bushehr (Zohreh and Mond rivers), Kerman, Lut, Hormuz (Hasan Langi and Kul rivers), and Jazmurian basins.
