Over all color gr eenish. Flank with sever alirregular dark blotches and back with transverse, dark,squarish spots. Lower flank pale yellowish or whitish.Belly and lower head white. Iris silvery on lower andgolden on upper part. Dorsal, pectoral and caudal finsyellowish with 2-3 rows of elongate, dark grey spotsalong rays. Upper base of caudal fin yellowish. Threepairs of barbels without pigment except occasionally atthe base of second pair. Pelvic fins separated by almostwidth of a pelvic fin base. Caudal fin slightly emarginated.Upper and Lower lips indented at mid-pointwith a bony projection underneath. No caudal pedunclecrest. Flank minutely scaled and lateral line welldevelopedalong whole flank. Maximum total length 77mm. Females mature at 50 mm total length. Sex ratio1.2males:1female. Absolute fecundity up to 850 lightyellow eggs with a diameter of 1.2 mm. Food includeinsect larvae such as diptera and ephemeroptra, isopods,worms and gammarids
