English Name : 

Tubenose, marbled or mottled goby

Biology : 

Over all color br ownish to yellowish-greenwith 5 oblique blotches across the flank. Fins with severalseries of brown to greenish-yellow spots. A triangularblack spot at caudal fin base, flanked by two whitespots. Iris with a narrow golden ring. Peritoneum lightbrown to silvery with varying amounts of melanophores.Spawning males with darker and longer fins, white caudalfin margin and swollen cheeks. Scales vertical ovalwith anterior margin rounded to slightly wavy. Predorsalarea and nape scaled. Posterior scales ctenoid. Gill rakersshort and concentrated around angle of gill arch. Genitalpapilla with a two-lobed tip. In brackish waters and entersfreshwater rivers. Maximum age up to 5 years andtotal length 15 cm. Maturity in 1-3 years. Spawning inmid-April to August. Both sexes produce sounds duringbreeding season. Two females may lay eggs in the samenest. Eggs deposited in 2-3 batches and guarded. Absolutefecundity up to 1350 eggs of diameter up to 3.6 by1.5 mm. Food include insects, gammarids, daphnia, chironomids,molluscs and fish eggs.
